Welcome to the Mother Ship!

I really love my crafty friends.....So much, that I put them on my merchandise tags!

If you haven't met Tessa yet, then you must be NEW to my blog!  WELCOME! I sound like an extra terrestrial creature, welcoming a new species onto our Mother Ship!  It kinda is a different planet in my house...I am far from normal (and noone in my family is normal either) If you follow my sisters blog, Lil Blue Boo, then you have probably already gathered this!
Anyway, Tessa (from "I love my crafty friends" and "Tales from Titleless Tess") keeps promising me through text messages, that she is definitely coming over for another arts and crafts day, but I will believe it when I see it, haha!  She will be in for a big surprise when she sees her face dangling from all of the new Perfectly Perrywinkle Sport headbands  (well, golf and tennis......and YES, golf is a sport contrary to what many have tried to tell me, haha!)   I've been blessed with so many talented and genuine friends, who can accept that I only eat cheddar goldfish, hot tamales, rice krispy treats, and diet pepsi; only listen to the same 3 songs over and over again on repeat and never get tired of hearing them, and know not to talk out loud when Celebrity Apprentice is on bc if I miss a word, I will rewind it!! They've all been so supportive and receptive to my blog, hobbies, and exponentially growing list of ideas that I bug them with everyday.. Because they are all so talented, I've then forced them to model, glue, cut, fold, promote, blog, sing, dance, paint, assemble, cook, clean, tape, staple, hole punch, sew....Gotcha!! I have room for more friends if there are any takers?? JK.   We even have training sessions for the TV Show, "Minute to Win It" (I'm an expert at the "Extreme Hanky Panky" (better known as the tissue pull), "Face the Cookie" and the "Dizzy Mummy"  We might have to post a training session video one of these days!  My friends are all so so talented and my goal one day is to make enough money to hire them all full-time!  When that happens, my little Perfectly Perrywinkle headquarters will be the most wonderful place on earth  (well, one of them at least!)  I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all my friends who only want to see me succeed and never ask for anything in return!  Tessa, Chris, Michelle, Jamie, Jenna, Nidhie, Jill, June, Kim, Carol, Ashley, Jenny, Jennifer and most of ALL, my wonderful husband...for putting up with all this "overly girly" stuff always taking over our house!  And girls, don't be shocked if your picture shows up on one of my merchandise tags one of these days! hahaa.. Love you all so much!

"Ribbons and Pearls" with Photography by Jamie Lea.

I am sooo excited to share these beautiful photos with everyone!  Perfectly Perrywinkle paired up with good friend and VERY talented photographer, Jamie of Photography by Jamie Lea, for a fun Mother's Day photo shoot this past week!  With the new line of victorian-inspired headbands, we wanted to do something classic, vintage, playful, colorful, exciting, fashionable, and beautiful ALL at the same time!  We couldn't decide whether or not to take photos in my vintage-inspired guest bedroom, or outside, since the sun was shining so beautifully!  Therefore, why not just bring the whole room outside!  Enjoy!

I came across this quote which pretty much sums up our day!

"A little girl can be sweeter (and badder) oftener than anyone else in the world. she can jitter around, and stomp, and make funny noises that frazzle your nerves yet just when you open your mouth she stands there demure with that special look in her eyes. A girl is Innocence playing in the mud, Beauty standing on its head, and Motherhood dragging a doll by the foot."      -- Alan Beck

Royal Blush

This entire blog post is dedicated to my new favorite color!

I know, I know.....my all-time favorite color is "Perrywinkle (Periwinkle)" but for the past year and a half, I have absolutely fallen in love with "blush pink!"  Back when I was planning my wedding, I had seen a creative piece in Martha Stewart Weddings featuring a "gold and pink" color palette!   At that point, I had already chosen my wedding to center around an "antique Wedgewood blue" color, so now I am dedicating this blog to the pink and gold!

With all the Royal Romance floating through the air, I was inspired to look back at other royal figures that may have helped inspire Kate in planning her royal wedding, and that have influenced our fashion choices today. I then realized that I have established a pretty extensive collection of  "royal blush" accessories, about a year ago I think I owned none... (I probably need to stop collecting now!)  I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you!  However, we are far from royalty over here in Charlotte, NC, so don't be fooled by the bling!  Here is my "Royal Blush" on a budget!

Michelle at Curl Photography helped me snap a few photos last week, while we were working on projects for her "royal" wedding later this month!  Sooo exciting!

I absolutely love collecting eclectic buttons, textured fabrics, flowers, and ribbon!  If it weren't for Mary Jo's Fabric Store in Gastonia, NC, I would go crazy. Even though it takes me nearly 45 minutes to get there, it doesn't deter me from making my weekly trip!  I was so spoiled shopping for fabric with my sister (from Lil Blue Boo) out in LA.  It is like "China town" but for fabric!  I'm so jealous and really hope to have a chance to go back!

You have heard me say it before...not only do I think I was born in the wrong decade...I think I was born in the wrong era!  I have a passion for the "Victorian Era"  where everything was extravagantly beautiful with puffed sleeves, large lace and crinoline petticoats, elegant jewelry, and lace-up corsets (however, I have no urge to ever wear a corset!)  Even the language was beautiful during this era, producing two of my favorite writers Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare.

I love Victorian Cameos.  Queen Elizabeth I started the fashion trend, but Queen Victoria carried the tradition which has lasted centuries!

Handmade pearl and swarovski crystal bracelet.  This is one of my most cherished pieces of jewelry I own, as I wore it on my wedding day and it was made with love, custom by my very own sister-in-law.

Please feel free to contact me directly for inquiries on Jenny's jewelry, as she makes beautiful custom jewelry for all occasions.

After doing this photo shoot and reading more in-depth about the Victorian Era, I decided to start on a Victorian-inspired line of headbands by Perfectly Perrywinkle!  I'm loving every minute of it!  Stay tuned for my Mother's Day blog "Ribbons and Pearls" in which I have collaborated creative ideas with Photography by Jamie Lea!    Coming Soon!
